Geoff ‘Tex’ Rosenow (2009)

Geoff joined Victoria Police in 1961 and retired as a Senior Constable in 1992.

Geoff played 147 games in the Victoria Football League for the Geelong Football Club between 1962 and 1970. This included 100 consecutive games.

A very reliable player who was a good mark, had considerable speed, and played the game hard, but fair. Geoff became a 'Life Member' of the Geelong Club in 1969.

From 1975 to 1978 and again in 1983 to 1984 Geoff was Captain/Coach of the Mordialloc Football Club in the Victoria Football Association. Geoff coached this club to a Division 2 Premiership in 1977.

Geoff was regarded as an inspirational leader who was inducted into the Mordialloc 'Team of the Century' completing a remarkable time playing football in the top two football competitions in Victoria.

At country Victoria level, Geoff was Captain/Coach of the Wangaratta Magpies Football Club from 1971 to 1974, and of the Rochester Football Club in 1988 at the age of 46.

 

Geoff was inducted into the Victoria Police Sporting Hall of Fame in 2009.
