Rex Hunt (2004)

Rex joined Victoria Police in 1966 as a cadet and ended his career as a Sergeant in 1979. His Victoria Football League (VFL) career involved playing for Richmond, Geelong and St Kilda, and spanned 11 years. He was a Richmond premiership player; represented Victoria; played over 200 games, and was placed fourth in the 1974 Brownlow medal.

Rex also had a lifetime involvement in angling, winning many Victorian and Australian titles - he is a strong advocate for recreational fishing in Australia, and recently formed the 'Rex Hunt Futurefish Foundation'.

His media career started in radio in 1980 and continues to present day. In the medium of television Rex has become a 'household name' both within Australia and Internationally. His television style and commentary of Australian Rules Football has become legendary.

 

Rex was inducted into the Victoria Police Sporting Hall of Fame in 2004.
