Emmett Dunne (2010)

Joined Victoria Police in 1976 and is currently Assistant Commissioner Ethical Standards Department.

Emmett played 115 senior games for the Richmond Football Club between 1976 and 1984.    In 1980 he played in Richmond’s Premiership side when they defeated Collingwood by a then record 82 points.

He played a further 14 senior games for Footscray Football Club and was Coach, Captain and ‘Best & Fairest’ winner for Footscray reserves in 1986.

Emmett finished his playing career in the VFA at Springvale Football Club with a premiership in 1987.

From 1988 to 1991 he coached the Richmond reserves and became a ‘Life Member’ of the Richmond Football Club in 1989. Between 1992 and 1995 he was the Ruck Coach for the Richmond senior team after which time he coached junior teams for a number of years. 

In 1996 Emmett was appointed to the Australian Football League tribunal, an honorary position he still retains today. 

Emmett was regarded as a big strong ruckman who was a very good mark.

 

Emmett was inducted into the Victoria Police Sporting Hall of Fame in 2010.
