Victoria Police Golf Club
Established in 1940, the current membership of the official Victoria Police Golf Club is about 90 members, comprising of serving and retired members, along with a number of patrons.
A weekly competition (Mon - Fri) is played over 45 weeks of the year and as a season starter, prior to the official syllabus commencing, the "Alf Anderson Summer Cup" is played on four consecutive weeks during January of each year.
Rounds are played on many prestigious private clubs around the Melbourne metropolitan area and include, Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, Metropolitan, Huntingdale, Victoria, Yarra Yarra, Commonwealth, Riversdale, Woodlands, Southern, Spring Valley and many other top class courses.
Annual membership subscriptions are $250 per year with daily green fees starrting at $50 (course dependent).
"A" and "B" and "C" grade daily competitions are held each week.
Nearest the pins and long drive competitions are also held on a weekly basis and a "Player Of The Year" competition is also held which allows members to accrue points during the year from competition results. Annual Club Championships as well as handicap and scratch matchplay events are also conducted.
The VPGC attends the Australian Police Golf Championships held in March/April each year over 5 consecutive days, with the event being hosted by a different state each year on a rotating basis. VPGC hosted on the Mornington Peninsula in 2019 at several great courses including Cape Schanck.
The Australian Police Matchplay Championships are held every two years, again hosted by a different state on a rotating basis, but always on selected Murray River courses.
The VPGC supports and enters several groups of players in the annual "Blue Ribbon Golf Day" held at the Rossdale Golf Club in Aspendale.
The VPGC is affiliated with Southern Golf Club and financial members will get a registered "Australian Men's and Women's" GolfLink handicap through Southern, as well as share in the benefits of their clubhouse and functions, along with reduced green fees (Mon - Fri) at Southern during the nominated times.
