Glenn Grandy (2018)
Joined Victoria Police in 1989 and is still serving at the time of induction, 2018.
Glenn began playing Ice Hockey at the age of 9 with the Blackhawks Ice Hockey Club in Melbourne. At the age of 16, Glenn represented Australia at the Asian Oceania U18 Team Championships. He went on to represent Australia again in 1987 in the C-Pool National Junior Team which travelled to Denmark.
At the age of 22, Glenn debuted for the Australian Senior Team for the first time and would go on to represent Australia in 5 world championships in the next 7 years. He scored 4 goals with 3 assists in 20 international games, whilst winning a silver medal in 1990 in Wales (D-Pool) and a bronze medal in 1992 in England (C-Pool).
Over a 40 year playing career with the Blackhawks, Glenn has been the club MVP on 7 occasions, the club’s highest scorer 6 times, and won the best Defensemen twice, the prize that bears the family name. Glenn was part of the Blackhawks Senior Championships teams in 2002, 2005, 2006 & 2008 and was awarded the IHV Ben Acton Trophy for Best Defenceman in 2005. Overall, Glenn has played more than 700 games for the Blackhawks and has been Club President since 2009.
Glenn represented Victoria in the Goodall Cup (1986-2001) and Brown Trophy (1985-1987 & 2012) Tournaments serving as Captain on multiple occasions. Glenn was also the foundation Captain of the Melbourne Ice in the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2002, a co-founder of the Aussie Heat (Combined Emergency Services Team) to compete in the WPFG (Adelaide) in 2007 and was awarded life membership of the Blackhawks in 2012 and was inducted into the Australian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in November 2016.
Glenn was inducted into the Victorian Police Sporting Hall of Fame in 2018.
